METHODS & PROCEDURES

This database was produced through systematic search procedures, conducted between August and December 2025, updating every two weeks during this period. We searched for content in news databases ProQuest News and Nexis Uni, and in specific outlets with regular coverage of the Memphis-xAI case. These include: E&E News, Memphis Commercial Appeal, Memphis Business Appeal, and the Tennessean. We also searched Google for additional content. Articles were written between 2024 and 2025. Keywords included xAI, x.AI, Musk, and Memphis— used in various combinations. We included articles in which the xAI facilities in Memphis were the primary topic. We excluded articles that mentioned xAI facilities in Memphis as part of a broader story.

Each article was saved as a PDF to ensure access in case web links become inactive. PDFs were saved in a shared folder and organized by local, national, and international outlets. We created a spreadsheet, shared above, with outlet scope (local, national, or international), original links, publication date, and author.
